Take Care Tuesdays!! What's in my Beauty Bag!

Hi Everyone!!

Today in Take Care Tuesdays, I will be sharing with you what I carry in my beauty bag! Summer is fast approaching and to deal with the scorching heat I like to keep multi-tasking products with me on the go. It is not only space effective but helps me look put-together on a budget.

Take Care Tuesdays!! What is in my Beauty Bag!

BB Cream: I don’t like to step out in the sun without SPF and thankfully my favorite Garnier BB Cream contains SPF 24. It  is very light in texture and comfortable to wear. It does a decent job of evening out my skin tone and provides hydration without making me oily. It is my moisturizer, foundation and SPF, all in one!
Price: Rs. 99 for 18g
Buy from HERE

Garnier BB Cream

Face Powder: Summer means sweat and oily face. I keep the shine at bay by keeping Maybelline Dream Matte Powder handy. It is finely milled and hence does not look cakey even after putting on tons of layers. It controls shine and gives a decent coverage. The mirror and puff come in very handy for on the go touch ups.
Price: Rs. 475
Buy from HERE

Maybelline Dream Matte powder

Kajal: You can amp up your look as per your mood or the time of the day with a kajal. Maybelline Colossal Kajal looks great as a kohl or an eyeliner. Lending in a little secret, Colossal Kajal and I have a secret love affair till death do us apart(Not even kidding!!).
Price: Rs. 175
Buy from HERE

Mascara: Fluttery lashes can really make heads turn. I prefer to use a waterproof mascara in summers so as to avoid panda eyes. Maybelline Hyper Curl Waterproof Mascara does a beautiful job at lengthening my lashes and curling them without needing to use an eyelash curler. Once this baby is on my lashes, it does not move.
Price: Rs. 200
Buy from HERE

Maybelline Hyper Curl Waterproof Mascara

Tinted Lip Balm: A nice lip color instantly livens up the face. So I always keep Nivea A Kiss of Cherry Lip Balm in my beauty bag as it not only gives a beautiful color but also moisturizes the lips and contains SPF. Chapped lips don't make a pretty look.
Price: Rs. 129
Buy from HERE

Nivea A Kiss of Cherry Lip balm

I love the selection of products in my beauty bag as they keep me prepared for any time of the day. My beauty bag is extremely budget friendly as the total cost of the products is just Rs. 1074. I would love to know what you like to keep in your beauty bag. Please share in the comment section below!

Milani Lip Intense Liquid Color in Fiery Coral || Review and Swatches

Hi Everyone!!

Today I will be reviewing another lip product for you. I love Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquers because they are like melted lipsticks. (I have reviewed the Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquers in Celestial HERE) Since I have dry lips, I gravitate towards lip glosses. But a lip product is a total win in my books if is multi-tasking and provides good pigmentation with glossy shine! Milani's version of Show Off lip lacquers is their Lip Intense Liquid Color. I picked it up the color Fiery Coral which by the way does not look like coral to me, but it surely is fiery!!

Product Review: Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Demure

Hi Everyone!!

Revlon lipsticks are some of the best ones in the drugstore. What I love the most about their Super Lustrous range is that it is extensive. There are 82 shades in 4 different finishes. Well the translation is that there is something for everyone. I loved the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in the color Cherry Blossom which I have reviewed HERE. After that wonderful experience I decided to try some more colors from the line. So I picked up Demure (color number 683) which is a nude color. In this post I will be sharing my thoughts on this product!

Haul: Revlon Haul: Sunday Savings Follow up!

Hi Everyone!!

Before reading this post you must read my Sunday Savings post, as it will help you make more sense of this post. Click HERE to read that post. As I have mentioned in my Sunday Savings post, the deals are specific to people living in US only!

As I mentioned in my Sunday Saving post, I was most excited by the Revlon deal. In this post I will be sharing my Revlon haul from Rite Aid which I got at a great discount! So lets jump right into it!! A word of caution, the deals will work only if you have a wellness card. My suggestion to get the most out this deal is to go to Rite Aid and register for the card, come back home and open an account on RiteAid.com and watch the Video Deals, print out the coupons and take them with you the next day. It will be a little hassle the first time, but after this you would be set for future deals. So do this before you start shopping!!

Product Review: Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Pinkissmo

Hi Everyone!!

Today I am reviewing a lip gloss for you. I have heard of lot of praise about Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Glosses. I chose the color Pinkissmo because I read on some a that Blair Waldorf in the series The Gossip Girl used this for her wedding makeup. If I have to define my ideal style, then it would be her's. I watched the entire series just to get inspired by her makeup and dressing sense. Given that, I had to pick up this gloss after hearing that I was used for creating her wedding look, plus the color is really pretty! So lets just dive to the review!

Take Care Tuesdays! : My Hair Cleansing Routine: Spring 2014

Hi Everyone!!

I am starting a new series on my blog through which I will be sharing with you things I do to take care of myself! I know it sounds weird, but take a moment and just think about it. Don't we all need to take of ourselves. In today's busy life it can become really tough to actually do this simple no brainer thing which is to take care of yourself. Yes, we do take a bath/shower every day, clean our hair as we see fit, take good diet etc, but these activities over time become so mundane that you actually don't think about them at all. You just do them, and occasionally forget them and be ok with it!! In this section, every Tuesday I will be sharing with you how I take care of myself and urge you to share the same with others using the comment section below! Also through this section I would urge you to take good care of yourself and to really think about your skin care, hair care, body care, diet etc as you go on about living your life!

NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Beige || Review and Swatches

Hi Everyone!!

I love rosy and muavy colors on my lips. My lips are darkly pigmented and rose colors really complement my lips in spite of the dark pigmentation. I heard a lot of praise about the Nyx Mega shine lip gloss in Color number 129, Beige which actually is a pinky rose color and finally got my hands on it. Nyx is a very affordable brand but is hard to find. I found it at Ulta or online in USA, and only recently I spotted it at a CVS. Keep reading to know if you it is worth your time and money!

Fashion Haul: Forever21 Jewelry

Hi Everyone!!

Girls love accessorizing! It is a fact of life! Although I love Indian jewelry, but while in USA I decided to buy a few pieces before I leave. Since Forever21 is so popular here, I decided to pay a visit and I was impressed by their collection. I love that their stuff is of good quality and is affordably priced too. I picked up 4 pieces, which in my opinion are classic & timeless. Basically they are all golden in color, which I find easier to pair with any ensemble. So come, lets dig into my Jewelry haul.

Fashion Haul: Forever21 Jewelry

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Antiqued Cutout Filigree Necklace

Fashion Haul: Forever21 Jewelry

The necklace above is an antic gold necklace with a floral design. The size of this piece is perfect as it is neither too big nor too small. It will be suitable with a variety of outfits for a variety of events. I was immediately drawn too the symmetric floral design and delicate details. The necklace is very affordably priced at $7.80. You can find it online at Forever21 HERE.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Crescent Trio Necklace

Fashion Haul: Forever21 Jewelry

This simple bright golden piece reminds me of roman times and the jewelry they used to wear. This piece will look great paired with a black dress or top. Although this piece does not particularly fall in line with the Statement Necklace craze, but it does not fail to make a statement when worn. This piece is very very affordable and costs only $4.80. You can find it online at Forever21 HERE.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fashion Haul: Forever21 Jewelry

This spiked gold necklace really pulls the outfit together without taking away the attention. I love that its is chic enough to look trendy but modest enough for wearing to work. Although it has a little tribal feel to it, the golden color masks that really well. The tiny triangles have a tendency to turn 180degree which is a bummer but in spite of that I love this piece. It is not available online anymore.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fashion Haul: Forever21 Jewelry

This Bracelet or cufflet was the most expensive purchase out of my haul but it is also the classiest looking piece in the haul. I love the design and quality of the bracelet. It will look great with a western outfit. It is also very office appropriate. It bought it at $9.80. It is not available online anymore.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So that was my haul and I hope you liked it! Do share with me your thoughts on the haul in the comments section below.

MAC's Playland Collection || Mini Review and Swatches:

Hi Everyone!!

MAC launched their PLAYLAND collection today. This collection is inspired by fantasy land, amusement parks, cotton candy, unicorns etc. The colors are fun and bold. This collection is for those who love to experiment with their looks. It is also for those who want to step out of their comfort zone and try something new. MAC has played around with colors only and not with the packaging. I got a chance to visit a MAC store and see the collection for myself and in this post I will be posting swatches and mini reviews.

M·A·C Playland collection Pigments and Pencil

MAC says about the Playland collection:

Welcome to M∙A∙C Playland, a funtastical wonderland of enchantment and delight. Luscious shades of Lipstick and Lipglass liven lips in playful pinks, brilliant purples and bright corals. Tease and toy around with a carousel of Casual Colour pots in neon orange and hot pink, to stand out bright as balloons in a blue spring sky. Pigments and Chromagraphic Pencil add a cotton-candy cascade of colour to this season's stylish, fun-packed fantasy.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EYES

M·A·C Playland collection Pigments and Pencil

M·A·C Playland collection Pigments and Pencil Swatches

PIGMENTS
MAC says:
Pigment is a highly concentrated loose colour powder that contains ingredients to help it adhere to the skin. Create a subtle wash of colour or an intense effect. Does not streak or cake. Easy to blend and long-lasting. Please note: Pigments are sold by weight not volume. Containers can appear to be less than full due to settling of the product.

Net Wt.: 4.5g/0.15 oz
Price: $21
Available in 4 colors: Ever so Yellow, Golden Olive, Hi Def Cyan & Neon Orange

I think:
Going with the theme of the collection, the colors of this collection are very bold and fun. The colors Neo-Orange and Hi-Def Cyan are matte but the colors Ever so Yellow and Golden Olive are shimmery. The names of the color are very well thought out and represent the colors very well. My personal favorite out of the pigments is the color Golden Olive as it is a color which will not be out of the comfort zone of many people. The texture of the pigments is smooth and they are really easy to work with.

Verdict: 4/5

CHROMOGRAPHIC PENCILS

M·A·C Playland collection Pencil Swatches

MAC says:
A creamy, soft-point pencil ideal for use as a liner, or to outline and define designs. Provides a bold, intensely smooth application with a well-defined, pigment-rich line.

Net Wt.: 1.36g/0.048oz
Price: $16
Available in 4 colors: Black Black, Genuine Orange, Hi Def Cyan & Process Magenta

I think:
Out of the collection I was most impressed by the chromographic pencils. They are very creamy and highly pigmented. The colors are very potent and beautiful. I loved how neon the color Hi-Def Cyan is. And the colors Process Magenta and Genuine Orange are so pretty and unique. Although, except black, the colors are way out of my comfort zone, but my inner makeup buff was really drawn to these colors.

Verdict: 5/5
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LIPS

LIPSTICKS

M·A·C Playland collection Lipsticks

M·A·C Playland collection Lipsticks Swatches

MAC says:
Colour plus texture for the lips. Stands out on the runway. Simmers on the street! What made M·A·C famous.

Net Wt.: 3g/0.1oz
Price: $16
Available in 6 colors: Happy Go Lucky, Head in the Clouds, Playland, Red Balloon, Sweet Experience, Toying around

I think:
There are 4 amplified formulas: Happy Go Lucky, Red Balloon, Sweet Experience & Toying around. Playland & Head in the Clouds are Frosts in MAC terms. The lipsticks are creamy and highly pigmented. I loved the color Toying Around as it is a beautiful bright coral color which is very in trend this season. The color I was intrigued with the most was the color Playland as in the tube it looks yellow, but when I swatched it on my hand, I really liked it. It would look great on the center of the lips over a bright red color, to give extra dimension to the lips.

Verdict: 4.8/5

TINTED LIP GLASS

M·A·C Playland collection tinted Lip glass

M·A·C Playland collection tinted Lip glass Swatches

MAC says:
A unique lip gloss available in a wide variety of colours that can create a high gloss, glass-like finish or a subtle sheen. Designed to be worn on its own, over Lip Pencil or Lipstick, Tinted Lipglass is the perfect product for creating shine that lasts. It's pigmented, very shiny and can impart subtle or dramatic colour. It contains Jojoba Oil to help soften and condition the lips. Tinted Lipglass is packaged in a convenient bottle with a sponge tip applicator that provides a quick, smooth, even application.

Net Wt.: 4.8g/0.17oz
Price: $15
Available in 5 colors: Bright Side, Carousel, Live it up, Lots of Laughs & Pure Silliness.

I think:
The lip glasses from this collection are beautiful neon colors perfect for spring and summer. The colors Bright Side and Live it up are really outstanding as they are very different from what MAC offers in their permanent collections. The bright side would look really nice with a lipstick underneath or its own. Do give this color a try if you happen to be at MAC.

Verdict: 4.5/5
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FACE

CASUAL COLOUR

M·A·C Playland collection tinted Casual Colour

M·A·C Playland collection tinted Casual Colour Swatches

MAC says:
Versatile, lightweight all-in-one colour for cheeks and lips. Creamy, super-blendable, barely there formula. Contains Vitamin E to help keep skin and lips nourished. Limited Edition.

Net Wt.: 13 ml/0.43 fl oz
Price: $21
Available in 3 colors: For your Amusement, Hi Jinks & Young at heart

I think:
These are probably my least favorite from the collection. The product is not bad by any means, but they just don't stand out to me. The color For your Amusement lacks consistency in pigmentation and does not apply very well but the other colors are nicely pigmented. This product is good for throwing in your purse for quick touch ups in emergency situations.

Verdict: 3.5/5
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the end I will say that makeup artists will definitely enjoy this collection. The general public can surely enjoy the collection, except the pigments and pencils(in my opinion). I loved the pigment Golden Olive and the lipstick Toying Around. I think they will look great paired together.

In the end, here is an eye look that a MAC makeup artist did on my eyes. She used the pigment Hi-Def Cyan out of the collection. Hope you like it!

Product Review: Rimmel Show off Lip Lacquer in Celestial

Hi Everyone!!

I think Rimmel London is a great brand. I love how they maintain quality at incredibly low prices. I also love that they are now available in India so that my lovely Indian ladies can enjoy the products from this brand! I spotted Rimmel at Parcos on Delhi Airport and also at Shopper Stop. In UK, they are sold as Apocalips but essentially the formula is the same. Keep reading to know my thoughts on this product!

Mini Review and Swatches: MAC Mineralize eye shadow X4

Hi Everyone!!

Recently MAC launched 6 mineralize eye shadow quads. These are color coordinated shimmery quads based on a specific color theme. From a single quad, one can make a myriad of eye looks, ranging from a natural day look to a sultry smokey look. I also love the names of these quads as they are suggestive of the shades they carry in them. Keep reading for swatches and mini reviews.

Product Review: L'Oréal Lineur Intense Felt Tip Eyeliner in Carbon Black

Hi Everyone!!

Although I love eyeliners, I am scared of liquid eyeliners because I don't have a steady hand. Also whenever I have tried them before in the past, it took me a lot of time to make my eyeliner look perfect. That is why I always avoided using it and turned my attention to pencil and pen type eyeliners. But when working with eye shadows and false eyelashes, i found that pencil and pen eyeliners don't stand up to the task and liquid or gel eyeliner is the only way to go. I heard a lot of good things about Loreal Lineur Intense Felt Eyeliner, so I bought it in the color 690, Carbon Black and that is what I will be reviewing today!

Sunday Savings! How I save on my beauty buys.

Hi Everyone!!

I am starting this new series of Sunday blog posts in which I will be sharing with you all about how I try to save on my makeup purchases! Makeup is rather expensive, more or less depending on the country in you live in! I come from a middle class Indian family. I was born and brought up in an environment where penny pinching was necessity, and as I grew up it turned into a lifestyle. Now, though I am in a financially comfortable place in my life, I can't seem to give up my habit of stretching my buck to get the most out of it! I sort of derive a weird pleasure out of it! I use this habit to my advantage while fishing for makeup too and would be sharing with you how I do this!

I am pretty convinced at this point that makeup in USA is the cheapest compared to anywhere in the rest of the world! Not only that, the discount culture in the states has spoiled me so much that I would really find it difficult to buy makeup at full price from now on!

Anyways, while being in USA, I have trained myself to find great deals on makeup, and that's what I will be sharing with you in this weekly edition. You will get a round up of all the best drugstore deals on makeup, and occasionally on high end makeup. So let us start with this week beauty sales!

Product Review: Revlon ColorStay Eye Liner Creme Gel Liner in Charcoal

Hi Everyone!!

Although cream/gel eyeliner are a bit of work, they are my preferred method to line my eyes when I work with eye shadows. The reason is that it is easier to deposit pigment with a brush and cream/gel formula over powder/cream shadows. An eyeliner other than black can make a look on its own! When paired with eye shadows of complimenting colors, it can add a little something interesting and fun to an eye look. It is easy to find a good black eyeliner, but finding a good colored eyeliner can be hard. After trying a bunch of black eyeliners, I decided to go on a hunt to find good colored eyeliners.

I picked up Revlon's ColorStay Eye Liner Creme Gel Liner in color number 4, Charcoal, which is a grey colored eyeliner. I had never tried this line of gel liners before in black or any other color. So the choice of this product was not only motivated by the color but also by my curiosity about this range of products. Keep reading to know what I thought about the product!

Product Review: Maybelline Eyestudio Color Plush Silk Eyeshadow in Copper Chic

Hi Everyone!!

I love coppery and bronzy colors for my eyes! I love MAC's Antiqued, Amber Lights and Copper Ring! If you know about these colors, you would know what I am talking about! I think these colors look great on Indian Eyes. While shopping at my local drugstore, I found colors similar to these MAC shades together in an eye shadow quad and I just could not pass that up! The quad I am referring to is from Maybelline's Eye Studio line in the color number 70 Copper Chic.

I have had my fair share of fails trying drugstore eye shadow quads! Even some of the most hyped eye shadow quads didn't impress me! Still I picked this particular quad because of the color coordination of the shadows! The color coordination of this palette is awesome in my opinion! That is the sole reason I picked this shadow up. Keep reading to know if it was worth the while!

Product Review: Maybelline Face Studio Master Hi-Light in Muave

Hi Everyone!!

From my Maybelline haul posted here, I am reviewing today a blush from their Master Hi-Light Line by face studio in the color Mauve. It is a highlight blush meaning it has shimmer in it. This blush has 4 shades pressed in a criss-cross tile format. It is funny that this blush has been named Mauve when none of the 4 shades in the blush are mauve in color!! The 4 shades that form this blush are champange, golden, berry red and maroon.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Antwerp || Review and Swatches

Hi Everyone!!

With Spring springing on us, I am searching for some bright lip colors. For spring and summer, my favorite makeup look is eyeliner and bright lips. But I have always been scared of bright lips. I just think that bright lips don't go with my skin tone. But at the same time, my hand automatically reaches out for bright colors. NYX is a great affordable brand which many times deliver better quality than the price they charge for. The color Antwerp from NYX's soft matte lip cream called out to me on a trip to ULTA and that is what I will be reviewing today!

Product Review: Maybelline Volum' Express The Rocket Mascara in Very Black (number 401)

Hi Everyone!!

If you read the blog post on my Maybelline haul, which I have posted here, you would know that I bought Maybelline's Volum' Express the Rocket Mascara in Very Black recently. I have used this mascara now for a good couple of weeks now and I am ready to post my thoughts on it. So keep reading to know what I think!!

After Mascara (only one coat)
Quick Facts:

Price: $7
Available in 3 colors and in washable and waterproof version.

What I think about this product:

I was really attracted to the mascara wand at the Maybelline counter and that was the reason I actually picked it up. The wand has short rubber bristles which are nicely spaced apart. The design of bristles help comb through the lashes well. It makes it easy to reach the root of the lashes and wiggle the wand there!! Also it is easy to work on your lower lashes with it too. The formula is amazing, not too dry not too wet. It is not goopy at all and it does not clump or flake. It gives good volume and length at the same time. I only need one coat of this mascara on my lashes and I am good to go. The best part is that the lashes feel natural to touch with the mascara on! Maybelline did a great job with this mascara in my opinion!!

I was not particularly impressed with the packaging. In fact I was hesitant to pick up this mascara only because of the way the packaging looks. But I am glad I did pick it up! I admit that the tube does not look very elegant but now that I have owned it for a while, I think it looks a little fun and casual!! There is another small feature that I really admire. The washable version has pink wand and pink writing on the tube but the waterproof version has blue writing and blue colored wand. This way if you have one of each, then it will be easier for you to spot the version you are looking for!

I highly recommend it to any one. In fact I am going out today to buy 2 back ups for myself!!

Final Verdict: 5/5
